Prior to launching Sinawali Biotechnology Solutions, Steve was the Vice President of Chemistry & Boulder Site Head for Editas Medicine, where, in addition to his site head duties, he had responsibility for three teams:

• Analytical Science/Structural Biology (characterization of guide RNAs (gRNAs) and ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs), mRNAs, and various conjugation chemistries, as well as analytical method development, QC and stability testing, and biophysical and structure/function characterization)

• Process Chemistry (synthesis, purification, and process development for gRNAs and mRNAs

• Advanced Technology (targeted delivery of LNPs and genomic target integration) 

 

Steve received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from UC San Diego, where he received the Harold Urey Award.  He completed his Ph.D. work in Biophysical Chemistry at UC Berkeley under Dr. Ignacio Tinoco, where he used 2D-NMR and other spectroscopic techniques to characterize nonstandard DNA structures. He has also led analytical groups at a polymer company (Rohm & Hass) as well as numerous other biotechnology companies (NexStar, Invenux, Amgen, & SomaLogic), and has a broad background in analytical techniques used for the characterization of both small and large molecules.

Ananya is a seasoned life sciences executive with over 20 years of experience in business development, product management, sales, growth strategy, commercialization, and corporate development. She has expertise in oligonucleotides, biotherapeutics, gene therapy and CRO/CMO market expansion. Her unique brand is her passion for customer engagement that includes C-level executives and KOLs. She is a highly effective leader who has built and managed cross-functional teams. She takes pride in not just helping organizations exceed their corporate goals but leading by setting the right example.

 

Currently Ananya is VP of Business & Strategy at IonDX where she leads strategy, commercialization, applications and corporate development. Prior to this, she held senior sales, business development and field marketing roles at Waters Corporation. She managed and helped expand its liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and consumables biopharmaceutical businesses within the Americas. Following her departure from Waters, she was an adviser at Intabio Inc., an early-stage life sciences instrumentation company where she helped the team with customer engagement and collaboration strategies. She is an established biotech leader and is sought after for consultations across the industry. She received Bachelors (Honors) in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and Minor in Astrophysics from UC Santa Cruz. She also has a Masters degree in Biosciences from Keck Graduate Institute.
